Squamish's most exciting adventure: Via Ferrata

Your Via Ferrata adventure begins at the top of the Sea to Sky Gondola, where you will be fitted with a helmet and climbing harness. Your guide will lead you on a short hike through beautiful old-growth forest to a spectacular viewpoint high above Howe Sound.

The Via Ferrata route begins when your guide clips you into the safety cable. You will traverse across suspended bridges, a catwalk, and ascend glacier-worn granite slabs using the fixed cable system and steel rungs. The route up ends near the viewing deck of the Summit Lodge.

“Via Ferrata” is Italian for “Iron Way”. It is an engineered vertical pathway with permanently fixed cables for safety and metal ladder rungs for easier movement across the rock surface. This experience will provide a vertical perspective and thrilling views you may not have thought possible!

Climbing a Via Ferrata does not require any special skills or prior experience. This exciting activity is not reserved for seasoned mountain climbers – any reasonably fit hiker can do it!

The Squamish Via Ferrata Climbing Experience is the ideal experience gift for someone with a love of adventure. As a Vancouver day trip, this experience is great to take alone or as a group.

Need to know:

• Minimum age for participation is 8 years.
• Participants must be a minimum of 16 years old to climb without a guardian.
• Minors (19yrs & under) require a guardian’s signature on their waiver.
• Fitness level:  The guide will establish a slow and steady pace throughout the tour. A moderate/average level of fitness is recommended.
• The weather in the alpine can change fast. We recommend you bring waterproof clothing and extra layers.
• Hiking boots - If you do not have your own hiking boots, the tour provider will have some you can borrow.
• It is a great idea to bring sunscreen and sunglasses as the snow in the alpine makes everything much brighter.
• You are responsible for your own food and water.
